fastfreddie – Absorbing Man #2

Next we have another Absorbing Man again from Freddie Fuller AKA fastfreddie.

Again, not sure what base he used for this guy this time either.  Freddie is known to do some interesting kit bashes so who know how many figures died for this one to come to life?  Pretty sure there are some wrestler legs in there though.

Likeness: 5/5
This is immediately recognizable as Carl “Crusher” Creel AKA the Absorbing Man.  He’s got the striped pants, the powers in use (this time metal and stone), and the mishapen cone head.

Sculpting: 4.5/5
The stone/rock/concrete areas are most obviously sculpted on.  I like how it seems to spread up his leg all the way to his head and arms from the ground.  What I don’t like is the odd part were it branches across his stomach.  Just personally don’t like that, but eh?  I really like how he did the rest of it though.  The head sculpt is obviously orginal and is just perfect.  From the snarling grin, to the mishapen head, to the furrowed brow, all looks great.

Paint Apps: 5/5
Gotta give full points here.  Another stellar painting job by Freddie.  The shading on the flesh and rocks is just unreal.  Great eye for detail and color composition.  I’ve always been a fan of the way Freddie paints metal like a comic and this figure doesn’t disappoint.  The only problem I see is that his ball and chain is stone colored.  It should probably be metallic like his right arm or a black metal like a ball and chain would be.  The black lines on his pants are very straight also.

Total: 14.5/15
Almost a perfect score, just a little nit pick that takes it down some.  But really a wonderful figure with great detail in both sculpting and painting.

fastfreddie – Absorbing Man #1

The first review will be of Carl “Crusher” Creel, AKA The Absorbing Man.  This figure was made by Freddie Fuller AKA fastfreddie.

I don’t immediately recognize what the base is but it works for this figure well.   Freddie has done a great job of capturing Carl’s likeness

Likeness: 5/5
Freddie’s sculpting on Carl’s head and choice of base is great in capture the classic look of Absorbing Man.  He’s also paired him with a base that he looks like he’s actually using with his powers.   Additionally, he comes with his trademark ball and chain which completes the look.

Sculpting: 4/5
I’m not 100% what all he sculpted on Absorbing Man here, but it looks to me like he just did it on the head.  I can’t give him 5/5 just because that was just a small area to do, but the wonderfully misshapen head is A+ work.

Paint Apps: 4.5/5
Freddie’s paint apps are always stellar and this figure is no exception.  The brick work on his right arm looks real and almost perfectly matches the included portion of wall.  The metal on the left if fantastic and really captures the look of metal right off of a comic book page.  His flesh tones are really great and very well shaded.  I also like the inclusion of chest hair and the stubble on his face.  It makes him look even more realistic.  I only take off .5 in this area because there are some places on his striped pants were his straight lines look a little wave and that just distracted me a little bit.

Total: 13.5/15
Another solid figure from fastfreddie (one of the best customizer in the game IMO).  As usual, great paint apps from Freddie and great execution with parts choice and capturing the likeness of the character.
